students watching a performance

As part of their American Literature courses this year, Nashoba Regional High School juniors studied themes, complex character, and symbolism using August Wilson's play Fences as an anchor text. This study culminated in a whole-grade field trip to watch a live performance at the Trinity Repertory Theater in Providence, RI this past Wednesday. Students raved about the performance and led discussions about directorial decisions, acting choices, symbolic stage design, and the power of live theater!

A consistent question from students was: "Can we do this again?" to the delight of English department head Kim Rocha, who organized this curriculum extension, with the full support and enthusiasm of the English department, educators throughout the high school, and administration.
